Electric fence circuit is also known as fence charger circuit.The circuit is mainly used for keeping away animals and pests entering to a particular area or for keeping animals in a protected area.

Looking to build a fence charger.This post explains how to make an electric fence.

This is a high voltage generator demo model circuit project using few components.

Components required

Ic                    - CD 4060
Resistor        - 1kiloohms(3nos), 22 ohms,
                       - 220 kiloohms, 1 megaohms
Mosfet           - IrfZ44
Ignition coil Transformer for electric fence circuit - The transformer used is of Honda active scooter, you can use any ignition coil of vehicles available in market.The more capacity and input current will give into it,  more the output power voltage power.

Working

The electric fence project is designed with the commonly available cheap ic cd4060.In other words it's the heart of the circuit.This ic works as square wave oscillator mode so that the circuit oscillate on and off continuously.This generates a square wave frequency at the output of ic.The number of times it should on/off(frequency) is determined by resistors R3 and R4.The frequency generated is around 1 kilo hertz.

The output signal is then fed to a mosfet which drives the final transformer.The transformer used here is an ignition coil of Honda activa scooter.We can use any ignition coil.This ignition coil is found very cheap in price which can buy this from an automobile shop for around 4-5 dollars.
The power supply used here is a 12 volt 1 ampere only.The voltage and current given to the ignition coil determines how much power is delivered to the output environment.

Note:

» We can give supply of 12 volt 5 ampere for getting more power output from the  ignition coil of electric fence.
» Ignition coil with more power handling is available in market.
» Always give heat sink to the mosfet as it's driving a transformer the mosfet will get heated up.
» Use more number of mosfet in driver circuit.If we need to get more power output from the circuit
» Timer can be used along with the circuit and thus we can control the on/off timing according to the application.
» While working don't touch anywhere in the circuit as this electric fence circuit produce thosands of voltage at the output.
» Donot give the output from ignition coil of electric fence circuit to any electronic devices as it may permenantly damage the device.

Applications

» Electric fence or charger is used in pest repellent for farmers in crops
» This high voltage circuit can act as a driver circuit of ignition coil in vehicles.
» This sparks can destroy insects,mosquitoes etc.
» This is widely used for removing wild animals/birds

R5         - 1 Kiloohms
R6         - 1 Kiloohms

LED      - Red 5mm diameter
Mosfet -  IRFZ44, you can take any N channel mosfet like Irf 150N,irf 250N etc.

The output is taken from ignition coil output 1 and ignition coil output 2(Coil )
